Oefening 6
Men’s talk
Cor: How long do you still
have vacation?
Father: Still two more
weeks.
Cor: Are you satisfied with
your new job?
Father: Oh yes, very
satisfied.
Cor: Are you getting a lot
more money then?
Father: No, not very much at
all, but the work is much more interesting.
Cor: Is it a lot different
from your previous job?
Father: Yes. I have to
travel a lot now and I find that very nice.
Cor: Are you also coming to
America one time?
Father: I think so; perhaps
as soon as within a few months.
Cor: And are Gerda and the
children also coming then?
Father: Gerda is, but the
children probably not – they have to go to school. I might
stay a month. I have to go in fact to New York, Colorado and
California.
Cor: That is nice. What are
you actually coming to do?
Father: You know of course that the Netherlands export a
lot of industrial products, also to America. I have to do
business with our agents in your new fatherland.
Cor: What things are
exported to America?
Father: You mean by the
Netherlands or by our company?
Cor: I actually mean by your
company but I would also like to know all that is exported
by my old fatherland - or is it motherland?
Father: We export only fruit
and vegetables and dairy products, but the Netherlands
naturally also exports a lot of industrial products. I am
the representative for dairy products such as butter, cheese
and eggs.
Cor: What kind of industrial
products does the Netherlands export?
Father: Have you already
been to Eindhoven?
Cor: In the past, but why
are you asking that?
Father: You perhaps know
that one of the biggest factories in the world is there
which makes electrical appliances.
Cor: I knew that a large
factory was there but not that it was one of the biggest in
the world.
Father: Yes, that’s so.
Cor: Can you also visit that
factory?
Father: Probably, but I know
they have a permanent exhibition which is visited daily by
hundreds of people. The building is like a very big flying
saucer and it is called ‘Evoluon’; I have already been there
a few times.
Cor: I would also like to
see that.
Father: We can go tomorrow,
if you want. Then we can see the very latest communication
and domestic electronic appliances which are made in the
world.
